German trench assault repelled in Argonne and Meuse fighting

In the Argonne forest at Dragotelle the German attack was repelled after a fierce night battle. On the Meuse heights at Calonne trench fighting continued through the night and the lines and ruins remained intact. In Lorraine Afracourt faced a failed surprise attack by a company and a half of Germans. French aviators dropped about twenty bombs on Douai station and nearby lines causing serious damage.

German Forces Advance Across Pyniester in Galicia

June 27 German army headquarters reports fierce fighting across the Pyniester between Dukaszewice and Chodorow in Galicia with northern bank hill taken. In Arras Argonne and Meuse sectors French trench and mine positions attacked. Russians report no change in eastern theater while Dniester hills north of Bukasowice Chodorow fall to storm. 850 prisoners and several machine guns taken near Rawa Ruska.
