Americans advance positions materially, inflict heavy losses on foe and capture 264 prisoners in a bold Belleau Wood raid. Troops cleared 15 men held as Hung, advancing lines and securing gains with substantial enemy casualties.
Reports say Italian forces cleared the western bank of the Piave and captured nearly 400 prisoners in a major action at Bellean wood. In France and Flanders British and French troops conducted successful raids, taking prisoners and weapons while the war office reports recaptured Italian artillery losses.
Alonzo Sargent engineer of the empty troop train and his fireman Gustav Krauss were held to the grand jury on involuntary manslaughter charges for the Geary Indiana wreck that killed 78 circus employees and one railroad man. Bonds were set at eight thousand and five thousand dollars respectively.
Georgia becomes the thirteenth state to ratify the prohibition amendment. The Senate votes 35 to 2 and the House 124 to 24 in Atlanta on June 26, authorizing ratification of the federal prohibition amendment.

Recruits are fingerprinted labeled numbered and issued tags then undergo medical and orthopedic exams dental checks heart lungs and mental testing to determine fitness for service. Many are redirected to discharge if found unfit.
Alexander Kerensky former provisional premier of Russia has landed in London and plans to travel to America within a week or ten days after several days in retirement. His health is reported poor and his escape journey from Russia is noted amid strict passport controls.
