Taft Nominee Wins First Ballot At Chicago Convention

At the Chicago convention the Taft ticket led by William Howard Taft and James S Sherman secured the nomination on the first ballot amid Roosevelt delegates abstaining and mass protests. Harding nominated Taft as running mate as disorder erupted and then quieted under police control.
