Mexican bandits about fifteen strong seized horses but fled as they were discovered by ranch workers. Foreman George K Alexander and three companions escaped with horses toward Webb Texas, but were attacked twelve miles from the Rio Grande. they reached Minera to report to army officers and pursuit plans began.
Reports from San Diego dated June 11 say Mexicans arriving from Mazatlan described critical conditions in the Guadalajara district and charged Mexican authorities with fomenting anti American sentiment. Gutierrez bruised. locomotive and three coaches overturned due to defective rail. Agreement between Generals Pershing and Gavira concerned troops disposition in the territory.
Laredo Tex June 11 Carranza troops and Mexican bandits fought at Sanches Mexico twenty miles south of Nuevo Laredo resulting in the capture of the bandit leaders. The outlaws were from Luis De La Rosa's band. Two armed Japanese were arrested near Piedras Negras by de facto troops. Refugees said they left the country due to political conditions under the American punitive expedition.
Reports indicate American protection plans for Mexicans and Americans alike faced opposition as Mexicans grew hostile. A force of 1000 troops was ordered from Coahuila to contact US troops and compel withdrawal, but only Midley’s withdrawal prevented an attack by Carranza forces.
