Ernest Burkhart pleads guilty to the murder of rancher W. E. Smith as part of a wide Osage killings plot tied to wealth from Osage oil royalties. Authorities say Hale led the scheme to murder heirs and blow up homes, with trials looming for Hale and others.
George Carter a miner from Noseville California died of thirst in the Amert desert about 45 miles southwest of Joy Utah after being left with an empty water bottle. George Ellison of Salt Lake City said Carter and he searched the desert Sunday but Carter was found dead. Carter and Ellison had been traveling to inspect mining property when their automobile became stuck in a wash.

Pasadena police report Ross Pettyman a 29 year old automobile dealer from Highland Park was found unconscious in his bathroom from water heater gas fumes. Firemen revived him with an inhalator after nine hours of continuous work.
President Coolidge has signed a senate resolution authorizing an amendment to the New Mexico constitution. The change would modify how state land revenues are distributed among state institutions, per a wire from Senator Srawuon.

Mrs Maud B Clark of El Paso, a psychologist, spoke on Human Engineering and plans a series of lectures. A second paper was read by Rita Crouch.
Seven people were injured when Grand Rapids and Indiana train 914 derailed near Hoagland. The coupling between engine and tender broke causing four cars to overturn with sixty passengers aboard, one person possibly fatally hurt, and sixty more endangered.
