A violent mob in Havana targets Black residents sparking fears of fatal harm. Reports describe a tense scene with authorities urged to restore order as clashes escalate in the city. Strong evidence points to broad social unrest affecting Cuban communities and security responses.
Fear of a large anti black demonstration looms as mobs in Havana clash with negro residents. Police arm themselves with machetes, arrests rise, and officials pledge protection while awaiting potential renewed violence. General Menocal offers 3000 militiamen to quell rebels in Oriente as unrest spreads.
Washington officials from the War and Navy departments state no immediate actions are expected in Cuba. They see no need to deploy the expeditionary brigade of infantry and note no general officer has been designated for command.
The Culgoa arrives at Guantanamo to stock refrigerated meat for naval and Marine forces in Cuba as insurgent activity remains limited to petty theft. Senate Foreign Relations discusses authority for U S military action in foreign nations and possible insurrection in Cuba and Mexico being fomented domestically, with resolutions by Senators Bacon and Nelson referred to committee. Nelson links Cuba and Mexico unrest to sugar and mining interests in the United States.
General Monteagudo, Cuba’s commander in chief, says he is satisfied with the military situation in Oriente and expects to end the insurrection within three weeks. Captain Iglesias dispersed a party near Mayari. gunboat Harvey sails to Mayari to assist Captain Ipiesias. General Rabi Cebroes plans a guerrilla force to strike insurgents.
The Senate will vote on unseating Senator Lorimer of Illinois on Monday July 6. The date was agreed at a conference after input from both pro and anti Lorimer factions. If Congress adjourns earlier, voting time may be moved up to finish the case this session.
The Winnipeg Flyer rear ended the Pacific Coast Express at a crossing near here while both were moving. The crash injured about a dozen people though none were seriously hurt. Brakes failed, the dining car of the coast express split and toppled into a ditch. Mrs. George Van Klerk suffered a fractured shoulder and arm.
Colonel Roosevelt declares the Steam Roller is being used by his enemies to defeat the party. He warns the country that unfair action by a committee aims to gauge and amplify this defeat.

Washington reports aerial artillery test at College Park Maryland. Captain Charles DeF Chandler of the U S Army signal corps fired from an airplane 600 feet up at 50 mph, hitting a 3 by 12 foot target with nearly every shot. The airgun weighs 25 and a half pounds and can fire 750 rounds a minute.
The first New Mexico state legislature closes with presentations to Speaker Baca and Chief Clerk Joerns. Lieutenant Governor de Baca and others receive gifts as lawmakers adjourn sine die after a long session. Bill actions include tax exemptions for new industries, bribery penalties, railroad cattleguards, and various confirmations and resolutions.
Morning Journal Special Season Wire reports Mexican rebels plan to depose Pascual Orozco and keep the revolution alive under a new military leader with a return to Francisco de la Barra as president. Officials note widespread dissatisfaction among financiers and troops over Orozco's leadership.
Madera Mexico June 8 two hundred federal troops led by Captain Pinteros have taken possession of Madera the division point on the Mexican Northwestern railroad between Chihuahua and Juarez no rebels were found on entry and a clash may occur at Casas Grandes about fifty miles north between rebel and government forces officials said

Contested delegate decisions before the Republican National Committee tally 48 for Taft today across Arkansas Third Fourth Fifth and Seventh districts eight delegates Florida six at large six across First Second and Third districts Georgia four at large twenty four in twelve districts totaling 48 today. Roosevelt has no delegates yet.
The Republican National Committee allotted forty eight delegates, all in Taft’s favor, after contests in Arkansas Florida and Georgia. Georgia gave the full slate of twenty eight delegates to Taft, with Arkansas and Alabama adding delegates to the Taft column as hearings concluded.
