In Mexico City on June 7 Franciso Lo Madero Jr addressed thousands of supporters and Latin Americans, praising democracy as the region’s goal while denouncing plotters and enemies of the new regime who remain in hiding as the populace cheered the national idol.
W. E. Stokes, owner of the Ansonia Hotel on Upper Broadway, was shot three times in a West 80th Street apartment by Ethel Conrad and Lillian Graham after demanding $25 000 for letters. The women were arrested. a revolver and shells were recovered. Stokes underwent surgery at Roosevelt Hospital with bullets lodged in his legs and torso and faces possible blood poisoning risks.
Secretary of Agriculture James Wilson addressed Detroit business leaders aboard the steamer City of Cleveland, urging reciprocity with Canada as a path to expanded markets. Grace Dexter Bryan youngest daughter of William Jennings Bryan married Richard Lewis Hargreaves a Lincoln businessman at Novlock Fairview in the Bryan home.
