Sugar theft leads to grand jury for three men
Roman Ortega Ignacio Lucero and Carlos Candela ria were bound to the grand jury on $1,400 bond each after hearings before Justice Reddy. They claimed Candelaría hired them to take sacks of sugar from Fir Wool Bakery at 122 West Silver Avenue. Officer Salazar testified Ortega and Lucero were seen in the alley carrying sacks. Candela ria testified he saw the men and offered payment. he denied knowledge of theft.

Fort Worth Texas June 5 three officials of the General Lee Development company were convicted on five counts of using the mails to defraud and one conspiracy count. Sherwin and Schwarz received twenty seven year sentences to run concurrently with a ten year total each and a 15000 dollar fine. General Lee himself was convicted on all six counts and given two year terms on each count with a 6900 dollar fine.
