Bisbee Arizona June 3 Five thousand dollars will fund a railroad station remodel at Bisbee Junction. Plans approved by the traffic committee of the Chamber of Commerce and submitted by the Southern Pacific company, with work to begin within three weeks.
Washington reports that 66 federally authorized but unfinished projects will receive priority. A 15 million dollar allocation from the 165 million public buildings bill targets immediate work in major cities including Seattle Madison Syracuse Yonkers St Louis Des Moines Akron Utica Prescott Newark and East Orange with contracts to be issued within three years.
Frank Lloyd Wright comes home to his Talliesen residence to prevent Miriam Noel Wright from entering. She arrives with a peace warrant and is refused admittance by a caretaker and Wright’s daughter. She then throws stones at the home gates injuring two glass panes.
County flood commissioner J C Smith calls about 100 volunteers from Bernalillo County to start digging ditches Friday at 8 am to drain the inundated area on North Fourth Street. The plan creates a flood district with emergency powers under 1921 law, aiming to build two miles of new ditch and widen several miles of old ditches to prevent future floods for the next four to five years.
June 3 Santa Fe a four foot box of books was sent to Chama school among seven boxes statewide. 257 Chama children read the 35 books over recent months, led by Beautiful Joe the dog story. The Department of Education plans to double boxes next year with donated books in communities lacking libraries.
Fire destroyed the Masonic temple and a five story department store in Lowell Massachusetts. Loss estimated at 1,000,000 with no deaths as the store was closed for a clerks holiday. Fire began in the store basement where electricians worked. four lodges rendered homeless and housed in Knights of Columbus building. Firefighters suffered minor injuries from flying glass.
Kansas City reports harvest time nears as 16.9 million acres of winter wheat across Kansas Oklahoma and Texas approach maturing yields. Kansas alone expected to harvest over 142 million bushels with railcars and labor shortages anticipated to move the crop, aided by new combines to speed threshing.
The Bishop of Sonora Mexico’s residence in Nogales is seized by orders of the Mexican central government as punishment for church leaders who protested the arrest of Huejutla’s bishop. Juan Navarrete, the Huejutla bishop, is being sought for hearing, and the bishopric is to become a federal school.

New York June 3 Officials of eastern railroads rejected the 20 percent wage increase demand from 80 000 conductors and trainmen after a two day conference with Brotherhood of Conductors and Trainmen delegates. The case moves to mediation under the 98 act once appointed by President Coolidge with mediation to follow.
Nick Mortio defeats the Insurrecto Kid in an eight round bout in San Marcial New Mexico. Mortio took rounds two five and won the others by wide margins. He secured the final round by a mile after swelling the Kid’s left eye.
Winnipeg reports the Manitoba liquor commission has abolished regulations allowing direct brewery sales and now controls all beer distribution. Beer sales are restricted to commission offices in Winnipeg and other cities.
