Allied forces report a turning advance as American units push German lines north of the Oureq River. French forces recaptured Fere-en-Tardenis and now face German retreat in the region.
American and French forces push the German line north of the Ourcq river near Sergy and Choussancourt as they seize towns and rail locomotives. German resistance remains strong with heavy artillery and gas, but allied advances widen the Soissons Rheims salient.
In Santa Fe Albuquerque district superintendent of the Methodist church presided over the fourth and last quarterly conference of St John M E church this evening.
Denver Colorado and New Mexico showery and cooler east area on Monday. Arizona forecasts indicate generally fair conditions on Monday and Tuesday with little temperature change.

Coard of Santa Fe announces willingness to accept the Republican nomination for state corporation commissioner to succeed Matthew Groves of Carlsbad who will not seek re election. Coard has been chief clerk of the state corporation commission and a newspaperman who served as assistant to Territorial Secretary Nathan Jaffa.
Washington reports heavy fighting with American troops on the Aisne and Marne. The current army list adds 225 names, the largest weekly increase since American units joined the front. Total casualties abroad rise 1 050 that week to 18 766, with 241 deaths at sea and 5 149 deaths overall.
London July 8 the ministry of munitions reports improved strike conditions across the country with a majority of workers likely to return to duty. District committees in Birmingham and West Bromwich voted for resuming work Monday morning after mass meetings.
Amsterdam July 28 The German public learns the Vaterland later called Leviathan was sunk by the White Star liner Justices off the north coast of Ireland. German reports had overstated sinkings but admit many figures are uncertain and depend on imperfect indicators. The Lokal Anzeiger hopes Vaterland will be caught soon. Other papers refrain awaiting the U boat commander's report.
Washington July 28 Vict A Olander secretary of the sailors union of the great lakes and other leaders announced the cancellation of a threatened strike by seamen and freemen on the great lakes vessels due to a conference with Chairman Hurley. The appeal for merchant ship labor was endorsed and seamen were ordered to register in shipping offices while negotiations continued.
Amsterdam dispatch cites Berlin critic predicts the Aisne to Marne battle should produce a preliminary decision. He says Britain hopes American forces arrive by 1919 1920 to force a breakthrough but asserts a decisive Soviet reserve attack will secure victory.
