Philadelphia July 24 A birthday dinner featuring mixed toadstools and mushrooms left four of six members of Joe Franzer’s Landisville New Jersey family dead and the second night on record as the others fell ill. Joseph Franzer 35 and his wife 30 died with two young daughters aged seven and four. two boys aged five and two survived though ill. The family had recently bought a fifty acre farm near Landisville with funds from the wife’s brother. The mushrooms were gathered near nearby woods and mixed with store mushrooms, leading to fatal mushroom poisoning diagnosed by a doctor at first. The husband died last night and the wife today as doctors confirmed deadly toadstool poisoning.
