Deputy Police Commissioner Dougherty says the Rosenthal affair has led to the arrest of two men suspected in the case. He asserts criminals will soon be in the grip of the law as investigations proceed.
In New York on July 21 a web of arrests formed around the Rosenthal case. Louis Webber and Sam Paul were detained on suspicion of homicide linked to Rosenthal’s murder. Jack Sullivan, a known associate of Becker, rose as a key witness and was taken into custody as a material witness. Police, led by Deputy Commissioner Dougherty, deny Becker’s arrest though ties to the crime persist. A newsboy offered a murky account as investigators pursue clearer evidence about Becker and the murder crew.
Jacob Katzenan, a wealthy farmer, and his wife died when their automobile rolled over while returning from church in Lafayette Indiana on July 21. Three children were slightly injured in the crash.
Three deaths occurred yesterday in the suburbs of San Juan Puerto Rico from bubonic plague. One suspect has been found and three cases were reported to authorities. Since the outbreak there have been thirty cases and twenty six deaths across Porto Rico with the Haffkine vaccine given to all residents in infected districts. The United States public health and insular authorities are cooperating on sanitation and extermination efforts.

Cloudbursts about a mile and a half apart occurred in Tucker's Canyon ten miles west of Golden. Aerial and roadbed damage disrupted Colorado and Southern railroad traffic with a wagon train moving passengers to Denver. A ten foot high wall of water swept Clear Creek. Golden reported no damage.

Leadville Colorado July 21 Stephen Marko 23 identified as the man shot Friday by an unknown companion on a railroad track. Marko escaped Buena Vista reformatory Wednesday where he was serving an indefinite term for grand larceny. An eyewitness said the shooting followed his attempt to run. the motive remains unknown and the killer is at large.
El Paso dispatch reports the arrest of Emilio Vasquez Gomez in San Antonio as a relief to fears that Orozco's Mexican rebel movement could rally again. Officials say money and ammunition troubles hinder the insurgents, while Orozco and his followers remain defiant and unlikely to change leadership.
