Chicago July 19 The railway labor board will issue its first award at 8:30 am increasing pay for about 2.0 million rail workers. The expected raise averages 50 to 60 percent of the men’s demand, with totals around 56 to 60 percent of a billion-dollar claim. Union leaders hint at possible action but plan referendums on acceptance.
The national committee's W G Calderwood says Bryan and Sunday head likely ticket as delegates arrive for the Lincoln meeting. He warns a hard campaign unless Bryan accepts the nomination, with possible VP candidate among women considered. about 350 delegates expected.
Denver July 18 reports unsettled weather for New Mexico with local showers and warmer Tuesday. Arizona expects fair conditions Tuesday and Wednesday.
Conditions for the twenty four hours ended at 6 p m yesterday recorded by the university show a high temperature of 94, humidity at 6 p m 29, no precipitation, maximum wind velocity 38, wind direction southeast, and a partly cloudy day.

In Columbus Ohio on July 19 the Cox Roosevel t league of professional baseball players was incorporated to back Governor Cox. Prominent stars Jake Daubert Ivvy Wingo Ed Heush head the effort with ties to the Cincinnati Reds Walter J Maranville Boston Nationals D Stengel Philadelphia Nationals and Ivan B Olson Brooklyn Nationals. Daubert was chosen president.
The Russian soviet government rejects the British armistice proposal for Poland in substance, according to the London Times summary. It says Britain is not impartial and declines London talks, argues the proposed frontier is unfair to Poland, and offers direct talks for a better frontier. It also refuses Warsaw conditions on Wrangel and refugees, demanding unconditional surrender. The Times calls the reply sarcastic and says it could hinder British Russian trade relations.
George Bosko, sentenced to hang for a double murder near Pueblo in 1919, received an indefinite reprieve for at least three months from Acting Governor George Stephens. A psychiatric inquiry will be set up to assess his mental condition aided by affidavits from four prison officials. The crime involved the murder of FE Parks and William Haueter on the Rye Road near Pueblo.
Berlin reports quote Friends of Prince Joachim of Hohenzollern denying rumors that his death by own action at Potsdam Sunday stemmed from scandal. They cite marital disappointments and financial troubles, noting crown funds limited his allowance. Fears arise that the tragedy may affect the former empress amid renewed heart problems.
A sharp earthquake shock was felt in Los Angeles and suburbs at 6 48 tonight lasting about ten seconds. It was less violent than the three heaviest shocks felt Friday at nearby points, with the heaviest shocks reported as far as seventy miles away.

Omaha July 19. Western league will not extend its season by four games. President A K Tearney ruled it too late to change the schedule. Club owners debated actions against independent operators who lured players away with higher salaries.
Japanese sugar has invaded the Hawaiian market threatening to undersell local product. The Japanese ship Siberia Mare carried 400 tons of porsmon sugar to a Honolulu dealer who says he can profit and still beat Hawaiian sugar on price.
