Bank bandit Charles Clark killed after Rome Savings heist
Mount Pleasant Iowa July 6 The lone bandit Charles Clark aged about 20 robbed the Rome Savings Bank at Rome, shooting cashier F W Hileman and escaping with 800 dollars. A posse tracked him for hours by motor car, overtaking him south of Mount Pleasant. Clark halted his horse upon seeing the autos and opened fire. James Laughlin, a posse leader, was slightly wounded as Clark fell, shot through the heart. The stolen money was recovered.

Murderous friend kills family and self reported tragedy
Eugene Vaglio aged 45 killed his brother John Vaglio proprietor of the Central hotel, his brother’s wife and their two daughters Rosa 16 Christina 9, then fatally wounded himself.
