Philadelphia on January 28 Nicholas Jurreay Hutler president of Columbus University and GOP hopeful urged reform of federal policy toward business. He criticized the federal trade commission for harming productivity and urged a commission on industrial relations to resolve labor disputes with public findings and cooperative principles.
Weather notes from Porkeast, Colorado on July 24 predict clear Thursday and Friday with some drift in the far eastern part. Kozovac reports fair conditions on Thursday and Friday with little temperature change. Local post indicates twenty four hour conditions ending yesterday evening with mild temperatures and moderate humidity. Winds variable and light, shifting directions, with no notable storms expected.

Paris Jan 28 President Poincare with Premier Millerand and Marshal Foch awarded the war cross to the Belgian cities of Furnes Nieuport Dixmarde and Ypres. King Albert welcomed Poincare at Furnes as crowds cheered.
Senate military committee chairman Wadsworth disputed Mondell's $1 billion admin cost claim for the universal military training plan. He cited War Department estimates predicting annual costs from 1921 to 1926 varying from about 609 million to 811 million with surplus equipment and no new construction. He noted national guard levels and daily soldier costs, arguing current outlays would be lower than Mondell warned.

Washington January 28 The Bureau of Markets reports December wool consumption rose by 26 006 000 pounds to 64 000 000 pounds. Demand persists for fabrics from finer wool with 44 percent of the total consumption from fine grades.
At a city commissioners meeting a unanimous vote authorized the city manager to negotiate for a full time city health officer. Dr Waller urged hiring a health and sanitation expert, not necessarily a medical doctor, with no set salary. The health board urged forming a county city department for better health supervision and quarantine authority sparked by influenza reports.
Juneau and Ketchikan amid efforts to secure seaplane landing sites and facilities for a Seattle to southeastern Alaska air race next summer. The Aero Club of the Northwest plans a race with prizes totaling 25000 dollars. Aviators Chiff Durant and Capt Sir Arthur Whitten Brown may enter. Hagerman Irrigation company files with the state engineer to obtain a permit to appropriate four to ten cubic feet per second of water from the East Grand plains drainage system. The water would serve about 10 6000 acres across townships 123 and 14, range 26 east, with water rights under the Hagerman canal. The system, organized in 1907 and purchased from J. J. Hagerman, has used drainage waters for about twelve years. T Platt is president of the company.
