He was ordered committed to a state asylum for the criminal insane. Reed talked incoherently about religion after arrest as officers said he attacked during a religious frenzy. A farm hand who helped the mother and sister was wounded.
The headless and legless body of a young woman was found today in a clump of trees one and a half miles north of Media. It was identified late tonight as Miss Anna May Dietrich of Norwood, Pa.

American Metal Company of New York plans to develop Pecos Lead and Zinc mines in New Mexico. A mining plant with a 600 ton mill will be built in Alamitos canyon with a 12 mile aerial tramway to move ore to the mill. The American Metals Company of New Mexico, a subsidiary, will employ 2699 workers and provide housing. The A T and B railroad will extend four miles to the main line.
In Belgrade a government crackdown arrests over 200 suspects in a suspected communist plot to overthrow the regime. Troops dispersed crowds before the national assembly as unions are banned and a party congress is planned. Notable detainees include professors Novkovic Simon and Timotijevich, father of a former justice minister.

Nogales saw a thin snow cover while southern California citrus belts endured freezing temperatures. The weather bureau warned of unsettled cold as snow flurries reached Wyoming Montana and Utah with low temps in the Dakotas. Albuquerque recorded 14 above with light snow.
Secretary of Agriculture Jardine acknowledged a crop surplus that lowers prices and urged sympathetic federal action. He differed from President Coolidge, proposing a federally appointed board or commission to tackle surplus through a scientific program and strong advocacy for American agriculture.
