Morning Journal Special Leased Wire reports Rev J H Carmichael and Gideon Browning missing from Adair Michigan. Ashes and bones found at a Methodist church near Columbus have been sent to Port Huron for microscopic testing as investigators seek to identify a murder victim. The case remains baffling with uncertain gender of the dismembered body and no positive identification yet.
Rev. J. H. Carmichael of Adair Michigan was thought dead after a dismembered body was found in a church stove near Columbus Ohio. Authorities now suspect he fled and sent missing person descriptions to police in several cities. Mrs Carmichael identified torn clothing as his and says she has heard nothing since Tuesday.
Detroit reports a decapitated body found stuffed in a stove at a Methodist church near Columbus Township. Identification as Rev. John H. Carmichael of Adair faces doubt as another man, Gideon Frowning, is missing. Evidence includes clothing and a stick pin linked to Browning. the prosecutor questions the Carmichael identification.
Investigators link Rev John Haviland Carmichael to Browning case movements before disappearance. Carmichael visited Browning’s sister and spoke with him. Browning’s nephew recalls a plan to get the boy a job and a $2 bill to go to Port Huron. Carmichael left home Tuesday for a drive toward Columbus township then was seen near the church. Exiled General Jules Coleou, the former Port au Prince military commander who ordered the executions, is sought for extradition from Jamaica.

Bud Morris Bob Huffman were found guilty of second degree murder. Sentences set at twenty years with death or life possible for the first six. judge indicated intent to impose death. Defense motion for new trial scheduled Saturday.
Washington January 1 2 The House naval affairs committee heard Navy officials explain why Marines were removed from ships by executive order. The committee favors limiting Marine Corps funding to likely restore Marines on board while Secretary Newberry and Admiral Pillsbury defended the move as necessary for discipline. Mr Fitzgibbons suffered severe burns rescuing his daughter Beth expected to recover. The woman allegedly poured gasoline on the kitchen fire thinking it was kerosene.
Florence Erb and sister Catherine Beisel walk free after juries find them not guilty of shooting Captain J. Clayton Erb on October 6 1908 in Delaware County Pennsylvania. Jury sought self defense guidance before declaring verdicts and defendants hugged relatives as relief broke over courtroom.
Indictments were returned today by the Ada county grand jury against HKE Neal former cashier of the defunct Capital State bank. Neal is charged with forgeries totaling 78000 dollars involving rediscounted notes while originals were kept as assets. Banks in Omaha Ball Lake City and Portland accepted many of the notes.
