J P Morgan aligned with advocates for a regional bank to command the New York district. Johannesburg January 6 A strike of five thousand state railway workers was called and will begin Wednesday at midnight in protest against the dismissal of employees under the administration policy of retrenchment.

A syndicate of five St. Louis banks will take $500 000 of an issue of $1 500 000 receivers certificates of the St Louis and San Francisco railroad. Certificates were placed on the market by Thomas H West chairman of the board of directors of the St Louis Union Trust company and a former receiver of the Frisco. One million dollars of certificates have been sold in New York.
