New York January 4 Chief William J Flynn head of the Justice Department Secret Service says the red roundups are not near through and will continue with renewed vigor. Five hundred fifty aliens were arrested in this area for deportation hearings on Ellis Island. American citizens implicated in seditious propaganda will face state prosecutions. Deportation hearings will begin after Tuesday as 600 warrants are served locally. Byron H Uhl notes hearings commence Tuesday.
United Mine Workers meet in Columbus to press Attorney General Palmer to stop alleged breaches of the postwar coal pact by operators in Alabama West Virginia eastern Kentucky Tennessee Colorado and parts of Illinois. William Green cites coercive resignations and promises of a 14 percent raise to entice workers away from the union.
A Cork report says about 300 Sinn Feiners assaulted the Carrington Hill police barracks at 14 clock Saturday night. They fired for three hours, breached a wall, seized and bound the policemen, looted arms and money, and cut telephone lines before retreating as authorities arrived from Cork. No injuries reported to officers or sergeant’s family. Additional outrages claimed elsewhere in the area with no injuries.

Detroit authorities seize 280 alleged radicals at the House of Masses site as part of a broader crackdown.
