Secretary Madoo illness prompts a shift in the public hearings plan for the federal reserve system. The committee will now meet in New York January 5 and stay through January 8, then move to Boston January 14 for two days before returning to Washington. The altered schedule shortens the two month plan by three days and keeps the western trip intact.
Witnesses testify that the alarm came from a man in a fur overcoat and wore a white button like the Citizens' Alliance badge. A 15 year old boy and Mrs. Koski described the button but could not confirm its reading. Coroner's jury heard that panic spread quickly and that confusion existed before the exit rush. In Chestertown Maryland on December 29 authorities report the grand jury adjourned without indictment in the James Coleman murder case. Anger rose among supporters of the deceased farmer while Sheriff Brown kept deputies on duty at the jail as eight witnesses testified and twelve more were scheduled to appear tomorrow.
