The Committee of Representative Business Men endorses the project and completes preliminary arrangements for the big trip over the Santa Fe Cut-off. The excursion to the Pegog Valley is now a certainty as plans finalize and a travel date approaches.
Albuquerque business leaders form two committees to arrange a special Pullman train trip to Texico via the Santa Fe line with a possible Pecos Valley extension. The plan aims for a four to five day excursion February 6 under the banner Albuquerque Business Men's Trade Excursion, with rates and train service being finalized after meetings with Santa Fe officials.
The Albuquerque merchants plan an advertising oriented trade excursion to announce the new territory and attract attention. The American Lumber Company and Rio Grande Woolen Mills will provide eye catching materials for the advertising train. A general committee will meet by Wednesday to finalize placards and promotions for lasting impact.
Washington dec 21 a series of administrative rulings were issued by the interstate commerce commission. The decisions address origin affecting operation of the interstate commerce law and involve cargo shipments and fare limits. The document notes a challenge to the use of certain power sources in handling consignments and rules regarding carrier footing on freight.
The commission holds that no sanction exists for missions to persons acting as econ signees on merchandise. It states no power to relieve carriers from demurrage tariffs due to strikes. If stock is owned by another railway yet two separate entities report to the commission, they cannot lawfully carry freight free for each other. If a rate is cut to the complainant’s demanded amount before hearing, the order must keep that rate as a maximum for net less than two years.
The British steamer William Cliff, en route from New Orleans to Liverpool, arrived off Cork towing the broken Cambrian which she picked up at sea with a damaged shaft. Cambrian had been sailing from London to Philadelphia.
Charlottesville Va Dec 27 The president hunted wild turkeys for the first time since a stay in Louisiana. With guide Uncle Dick McDaniel he left Pine Knot at 2 PM on a mountain spur near Hardmore river. It is not known if he succeeded as he had not passed Glendower by 6 PM when the exchange closed.
A three story Deng House building and the Whitlow Williams Wholesale drug company stock were destroyed by a fire in Muskogee Oklahoma on December 27. Loss estimated at 50000 dollars.
Rio de Janeiro Dec 27 The senate today on a third reading approved the government bill requiring obligatory military service under conscription.
In Goldfield Nevada December 27 the mine owners seek a circuit court injunction against the Western Federation of Miners and the Goldfield Miners Union to stop picketing and meetings. Union leaders vow to fight if granted. 150 deputies were sworn in with $2,500 bonds each, ready for duty after troops depart.

Salt Lake City report to Governor Cutler says Colorado Ute bands raid southern Utah. A small group attacked three cowboys near Verdure in San Juan County on December 23, forcing them to drive cattle back into the canyon with rifles. Cowboys and cattle remain confined to the canyon. Cutler will seek Washington action as Southern Utes are barred from Utah by Indian affairs rule.
Wheeling West Virginia December 27 Returns from a majority of districts indicate that Vice President T L Lewis of Ohio has a majority of the votes for the presidency of the United Mine Workers to succeed John Mitchell.
Antonio L anio Mexican consul in Los Angeles addressed about 200 destitute Mexicans, taking their names for return transportation.
