A violent Sunday afternoon row on a Mississippi railroad train erupts into bloodshed and hangings. Mob violence targets Black passengers amid race hate. Local authorities report multiple fatalities and ongoing investigations.
Morning Journal reports two state militia companies were sent to Wahatak to quell unrest but returned to Meridian as no disturbance remained. A lynching and multiple killings followed a Mobile and Ohio rail incident involving George Simpson and his sons, with officials noting no county officials reported to troops.
In Wahalack Mississippi on December 25 conductor Reber HB Harrison of the Mobile and Ohio railroad died after being ambushed by a mob. A confrontation between white farmers and Black residents sparked a clash that left several whites dead and numerous Black people missing or killed in the ensuing riots.
A long distance telephone report from Seon Hin Mine claims several people were killed in a race clash near Memphbix Tennessee, details sparse.
A Dayton dispatch reports an express messenger lost a package containing checks totaling £10,000 for local employees last night in Chicago. Authorities hunt for the missing parcel and its contents amid a citywide search.
Two trains on the Southern Railroad collided in a rear end crash near Greenville no. 4 last night. Passengers were bruised and cut as both trains bound for Washington sustained heavy damage to their cars.
Rio Grande passenger train No. 3 westbound derailed at Mounts seventeen miles east of Price. Firemen Mike Conroy and H D Carter were killed, Engineer McGrath seriously injured. Washington December 25 American manufacturers are urged by the Bureau of Manufactures of the Department of Commerce and Labor to apply for a varied line of samples. The samples include cotton yarns piece goods belts braids handkerchiefs gloves laces towels and other goods from foreign markets. Samples will be sent upon application by manufacturers chambers of commerce and other commercial organizations.
John Martin editor of the Goldfield Daily Tribune emphatically denies a Chicago paper report that Goldfield’s population fell by half due to the miners strike. He says stores stay open and merchants handle high business volumes while railroad arrivals outpace departures.
Despondent by the death of his wife a month earlier, Heber Medjo a well to do contractor in Minneapolis hanged himself today according to police reports. His loss is mourned by family and neighbors, and authorities note no other injuries or motives were disclosed.

A large sheet iron building housing carpenters and riggers at Newport News Ship Building and Dry Dock was destroyed. The Old Dominion liner Jefferson suffered $10,000 damage while total losses reach about $200,000, with Jed die Edldins fatally wounded by a falling pole and hot wire.
In Owensboro Kentucky a street battle between guards from the Kentucky Coal Company and striking miners left three dead and four fatally wounded and several others injured. Names listed include Pougherty, Mallery, Gray, Moore, Barney, Goch, Delaney and Delaney among the wounded as guards and miners. The clash followed a year of mine-worker strike with non‑union labor under guard and occurred about a mile from the mine after about twenty five shots were fired.
In Atlanta on Christmas Day Miss Tymena Freeman and her uncle B S Larrimore were firing blank cartridges to celebrate. After exhausting their supplies they loaded live rounds and a cartridge fired fatally harming Freeman. Also eight year old Marie Ford died from burns sustained near a Christmas tree the night before.
Leavenworth Kansas Christmas Eve riot on a Fort Leavenworth bound street car prompts a full inquiry by Captain Walsh of the Ninth Cavalry. Three men are in custody after an argument over fare led to damage and shouting. An infantry sergeant says bricks shattered windows. soldiers and conductors offered voluntary statements with no intention to shield comrades.
A New York letter signed by J Pierpont Morgan and Dr Lyman Abbott appeals to Secretary of State Elihu Root to use the moral influence of the United States to stop alleged Congo Free State abuses. The White House hosts a Christmas dinner for President Roosevelt and guests including Mrs Longworth. An eastbound Mig Four train collided with freight No 50 in Springfield causing minor injuries to eighteen passengers.
In Chicago a sergeant killed a corporal during a dining hall quarrel among Port Sheridan Squadron troops. Griffin shot Taylor, who died en route to hospital. A court martial is ordered. Major Macomb says a murder trial should go to the United States court.
In St Petersburg on December 4 the last pre Christmas conference at the foreign office paused the talks between Russia and Japan. Japanese Minister Motone plans to go to Paris for holidays and will resume negotiations later after filing his detailed report on the commercial treaty.

Vice President Thornwell notes many firemen quit Sunday afternon and trains moved. freight and perishable freight reduced to local movement to ease congestion. The dispute centers on relations between the two unions, not wages or hours.

Brotherhood of Firemen eyes calling out firemen on the Hiarriman lines as local SP officials claim they are moving all trains and freight on the division.
A fast train on the Ashtabula rapid transit line struck a Lake Street trolley car near the Lake Shore railroad crossing. Leonard Newbold, 17, of Ashtabula, died, and fourteen others were injured in the wreck near the site of the 1879 disaster.

Bakersfield reports miner Hicks enjoyed a hospital visit and an elaborate dinner today hosted by Dr. Stinchfield with leaders of the brave gangs in attendance. Hicks shows good health and has no plans announced yet.
Portland residents Mr and Mrs J Lavier were struck by an incoming Waverly Richmond street car after alighting from an outward bound car. Mrs Lavier died at once. her husband, found unconscious, was hospitalized at Good Samaritan, likely fatally injured. Motorman Frank Miter was taken away in hysterics.
Mexico City December 25 reported that railroads and other enterprises face labor shortages in the Laguna district near Terron where pickers are offered as much as 44 dollars per day to harvest crops and still struggle to hire enough workers.
Pierre December 25 fire destroyed the coal house of the Northwestern railroad with all on hand. The blaze started from a lantern explosion this evening crippling operations for several days until a new coal supply can be secured amid a regional coal shortage.
A shooting at Cubero during a Demetria Jaramijic celebration left a man badly wounded after a struggle over a pistol. The weapon, taken from Pablo Jaramillo, was discharged during the scuffle, striking the victim from about ten feet away. The incident is deeply regretted by the local community.
