Four Officers Die In Midair Crash At Chanute Field Rantoul
Four airmen died when two planes collided head on above Chanute field near Rantoul Illinois on December 22. Captain Harold G Foster World War I veteran from Chicago and three lieutenants Henry W Kunkel Albert J Clayton and Fredrick Lawter were killed instantly. An eyewitness traveling salesman R C Lee saw the crash and recovered two bodies. The fourth died before extraction from wreckage.

Escapee from reformatory now held in Boulder
Cheyenne Wyoming December 22 Henry Merrow 17 claimed escape from the Colorado Industrial School at Golden and was taken into custody by police on Wednesday. Deputy Sheriff Waxen escorted Merrow to Boulder for questioning about checks issued at Boulder and Longmont. Merrow said his mother Mrs Kila Merrow lives in Denver.

Motorcyclist Injured Foot as Riders Pass Hospital
Knorr Royce a delivery employee for John H. Seth company suffered a badly lacerated right foot in a strange accident on East Grande avenue Wednesday afternoon. He and Dewey Hardymann rode on the rear of a motorcycle driven by Sam Remillard when Royce caught his foot in the revolving chain near St. Joseph's hospital. His shoe ripped off and he fell, blood streaming from the wound. Hospital attendants gave first aid and several stitches were required. The youth was later able to be released home.
