She vowed the fight would continue as she spoke by long distance from Manchester. Lawyer William A. Stone called the ruling regrettable and said Thaw is sane.
Olympia Washington December 21 The state minimum Wage commission established 10 dollars weekly as the minimum for women and girls in clerical office work effective February 1 Also set 7 dollars for office boys and girls over 16 but under 18 and 6 dollars for both sexes under 16 The measure covers office duties and relies on age groups for rates.
Chile formally protests to Germany over alleged neutrality violations by German ships in Chilean waters. The German fleet stayed up to five days on a Chilean island and transferred supplies after a seven day stay. Britain is also protested for taking mail from vessels in Chilean waters.
Reports from Mexico describe wholesale executions of political offenders in the interior. Sixteen killed in Mexico City, with 1440 dead in Chihuahua City for the past month. Notable captives include General Miguel Delgado and Guillermo Terrazas. Ransom demands and detentions at Chihuahua City noted. An American citizen Albert Gonzalez allegedly jailed in Juarez as a spy.
Private advices report General Guillermo Aragon of the Aguas Calientes convention and Colonel David Berlanga, secretary of the convention of military chiefs, were executed in Mexico City on December 8. Berlanga allegedly attacked Provisional President Gutierrez General Villa and others at a convention meeting. Aragon faced charges of complicity in a plot to destroy telegraph and railroad lines in northern Mexico to impede Villa's troop movements.
Douglas Arizona December 21 Jose Escalante and Esteban Crug Mexicans arrested at Nacozari confessed to murdering British subjects Thomas R Francis and R E Dunn. A firing squad executed Cruz and Escalante after Carran guista officers closed their careers. Dunn and Francis were robbed and killed two weeks ago at a mine near Nacozari.
Naco Arizona December 21 General Jose Maytorena may withdraw his Villista forces from the siege of Naco Sonora. If he does so General Benjamin Hill Carranzista troops will not pursue under a tentative agreement with U S army officers announced today. Brigadier General Hugh N Scott was to confer but weather delayed. A further meeting with General Hill is set for tomorrow at the bullet punctured U S custom house.
The Supreme Court ruled that land allotted to enrolled Creek Indians who died before receiving their allotments follows Arkansas law rather than Creek Nation descent rules. The decision, in a case involving Creek Ellis Grayson, states the maternal aunt would have inherited under Creek law but Arkansas statute grants it to the paternal side nephew.
