Monterey Mexico December twenty first Army scouts have lost the trail of General Reyes and his staff. Army headquarters has received no definite reports on his whereabouts in the last twenty four hours. It is thought he remains near the western Tamaulipas state line though exact location is uncertain. Five hundred troops are pursuing across plains and hills hoping to reestablish the trail.
Brownsville reporting that Mexican army officers at Matamoros deny General Bernardo Reyes was captured in Tamaulipas as claimed from Mexico City dispatches. Officials say Reyes remains near Gaelena Nuevo Leon and not in custody, with Matamoros noting proximity to Camargo.
In Toluca December 21 report says a clash between rurales and rebels near Tenancingo yesterday left thirteen rurales dead and several wounded after the rurales rode into an ambush.
A general strike of 4 000 to 5 000 workmen in Puebla’s cotton and jute mills was called today. Twelve establishments have been compelled to close. Disorders are anticipated as the labor action spreads through the city and surrounding mills.
Austin Texas December 21 Consul General Manuel Estava and Colonel Hays former chief of staff for President Madero in Mexico held a conference with Governor Colquitt. The purpose of the talks was not disclosed.
New York December 21 six more members join the stockholders reorganization committee of United Wireless Telegraph company to raise funds and recover assets allegedly held by former president C C Wilson now in Atlanta federal prison. Committee seeks stockholder input on assess- ment to exit bankruptcy and provide working capital.
Dalton I. Sparks, sought for a murder alleged at Pig Timber Montana, was arrested in Phoenix on telegraphic orders from Big Timer sheriff. Sparks claimed ignorance of the accusation as he was taken into custody this afternoon.
Vernon Bostwick arrested late today over alleged misappropriation from Farmers and Merchants Bank of Culbertson Montana was released tonight after police received a message exonerating him from the embezzlement connection.
Both houses took recess until January 3 after brief sessions.
At noon the President delivered a message on financial and departmental matters. Senator Brown of Nebraska predicted the senate would pass the house Sherwood service pension bill after the holiday recess. Senator Root of New York introduced a bill to make effective the fur seal treaty with England, Russia and Japan.

Striking freight clerks of the Harriman lines in Houston announce a general order for all Texas and Louisiana clerks to walk out tomorrow. The action follows managements refusal to grant an eight hour day with time and a half overtime pay.
R. A. Berd, long sought by city police for alleged burglary involvement at the Arcade saloon, was arrested in town yesterday. He is accused of entering the proprietor’s second floor room, stealing a gold watch, and pawning it in Belen days after the crime. The watch was recovered later. Berd had been missing until yesterday and will face a hearing today.
Pierre South Dakota December 21 Sheriff Coleman of Sully county arrested Frank Ripley a rural mail carrier on suspicion of involvement in the black hand threats that targeted two wealthy ranchers. Ripley to be taken to Oneida for a preliminary hearing tomorrow.
In Council Bluffs Iowa on December 21 Maybray testified about handling large sums with casual ease and alleged ties to ex county and ex city officials. He explained a one per cent cut for the county attorney and a further cut for First National Bank as part of the syndicate's operations. The prosecution presented a list of swindles totaling 454,295 dollars across multiple cities. The defense pressed Maybray on twenty indictments, seeking a guilty plea, while bank cashier Spindler Hess and Richmond denied the accusations.
London report says about 15 000 Arabs and Turks have gathered within four or five miles of Tobruk’s Italian entrenchments. Dispatches note six Italian warships sighted on the Albania coast as inhabitants brace for fighting while the Porte seeks British influence to preserve peace in the Balkans and maintain neutrality on the Balkan frontier.
