The venerable clergy member and Southwest figure, Bishop Kendrick Church Pioneer, dies after illness in Pasadena. Esteemed and admired by many, he led with dedication and served his community.
The Right Reverend John Mills Kendrick long-time missionary bishop for New Mexico Arizona died in South Pasadena at 76 after a long illness. His body will be transported to Phoenix for interment with funeral services at the Episcopal Cathedral observance Tuesday. He left a widow and a daughter Mrs Reward Williams of Phoenix. Kendrick helped build Episcopal work across the Southwest and was widely respected by other denominations. Archdeacon Warren will attend the funeral as official representative. Born in Cambier Ohio he was ordained in 1864 and served in Leavenworth before moving west.
Right Rev John Mills Kendrick bishop of Arizona and New Mexico died in a Pasadena sanitarium after illness. He was 76 and had served as bishop for twenty two years. His widow and a daughter in Phoenix are among those affected as burial plans are made in Phoenix.
In Bozeman Montana December 16 Rev John St Hedberg formerly pastor of a Swedish mission church at Anaconda received eight years in the penitentiary after pleading guilty to obtaining money under false pretenses. He allegedly took 500 dollars from Christine Mattson and others under charity pretense. The funds were said to have funded worldly pleasures instead.
Puebla reports a secret session in which a five member committee was appointed to seek an extra legislative session and nominate candidates to replace Charles J. Hughes as U S senator. The plan calls for meetings in Denver on Wednesday to nominate one or more men for the seat.

Western governors returning from a tour formed the Western Governors Association in St Paul. Montana's Norris was elected president Oregon's Weat secretary. Boise Idaho will host next year’s meeting. Walter L. Fisher will keynote the first gathering.
William Chisholm, a paroled convict from Sierra County, is arrested in Socorro after allegedly killing Bam Fernandez at a Kelly, New Mexico saloon by slitting his throat. Chisholm reportedly confessed while drinking and claimed he planned to burn the Kelly Mercantile store to prevent exposure. Fernandes had recently been released on bond on an attempted stabbing charge.
Twenty one more bodies were found today in the Cross Mountain mine after last week explosion raising the death toll to eighty four. Five men were rescued and the relief fund has surpassed twenty thousand dollars.
Ellenburg Michigan report says five million dollars in special improvement bonds were approved by the Kittitas reclamation district to fund an irrigation canal for 91 000 acres. Voters backed the issue 625 to 21. Construction slated to start by July 2012.
A powerful earthquake rocks Mexico spreading from Guana juatla to the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and from ocean to ocean with extended shocks across the nation. The event is described as sweeping from the Atlantic side toward the Pacific region and affecting large areas.

Two earthquakes were recorded at the Santa Clara College observatory in San Jose California today. A mild shock began at 11 20 a m and lasted to 1 p m on the eastern and western lines. The larger shock on the north and south line started at 11 20 18 and ended at 12 o'clock with a vertical component noted. The distance to the epicenter was about 1131 kilometers.
