UGE EAGLE GETS TWENTY YEARS IN PRISON
Dick Eagle a Half Blood Cherokee was sentenced by Judge K A Abbott to twenty years in the territorial prison for murder in the second degree. He killed Sonthigo Mteewa a Pueblo Indian near Bluewater Canyon New Mexico on May 31. Eagle spoke of a vision involving a blue robed man saying Shibboleth and attempted to plea to the court with odd remarks. The trial featured his claim of selling whisky to Indians and an accidental shooting during a struggle. Other sentences included a suspended term for Cristobal Caral and a separate assault case involving Garcia. Prosecutors extended a motion for a new trial in Pettine murder case to December 29.
