Crowds gather to honor the passing of Samuel Gompers as workers and labor groups reflect on his legacy. The nation remembers the long-time AFL chief and his influence on organized labor amid a period of public mourning and ceremonies.
The funeral train bearing Samuel Gompers arrived in Cincinnati at 9 p m and moved eastward. Thousands of labor members and unionists paid respects at stops in Flora Vincennes Washington and other towns as the body traveled toward Washington with officials and governors meeting the procession in Cincinnati.

Mount Vernon Illinois December. On the witness stand for the second time Mrs. Elsie Sweetin, charged with murder by poison along with former pastor Lawrence M. Hight, denies signing a confession. She says she signed under threats that a mob would hang them if she did not. She admits being questioned all night and recounts Hight’s attempt to kiss her and his claim he would recant a prior confession.
Peking December 16 foreign trade marks may now be registered under the Chinese trade mark law until June 30, 1925. The original six month period ending last June was extended to allow foreign firms and manufacturers more time to comply after widespread protest.
Federal agent Howard Beacham shot and killed John Duppin during a traffic stop on a road between Oro Grande and Alamogordo New Mexico. A second rum runner escaped as officers seized a Buick loaded with liquor from south of the border. An inquest is planned Tuesday at Alamogordo.
Labor leaders report the funeral will be held at Sleepy Hollow cemetery in Tarrytown with Governor Smith and Mayor Hylan headed as honorary pallbearers.
