Five Men Are Rescued From Cross Mountain Mine
Briceville Tennessee December 11 five men were brought out alive from the Cross Mountain mine at 11 o'clock tonight with more believed alive. Rescue efforts continue as twenty two bodies have been recovered and exploration of cross entries proceeds amid obstructions from gas and damp.

Ten Acres of Lumber Destroyed by Fire in Linnton
Fire at the West Oregon Lumber company mill and ten acres of lumber yards in Linnton a suburb of Portland started in an engine room and spread rapidly. The loss is put at about 150000 dollars with insurance covering half. Fire crews from Portland arrived too late to save the yard.
