Senator Holm O. Bur sum of New Mexico writes the Morning Journal denying he misled the Senate on the Indian bill. He cites Congressional Record pages from September 11 1922 showing extensive debate and details on land grants and title quieting for settlers, defense of the measure, and calls for equity in adjudicating settlers rights.
Reports from Tokio show at least twenty two confirmed dead on Shimabara peninsula Kiushiu after a long lasting quake. Unofficial tallies exceed one hundred with many houses collapsed and land subsidence. Officials warn the Island of Kiushiu faced the worst damage as Shimabara residents flee to Nagasaki for shelter and wounded treatment.
Denver area reports New Mexico fair Monday with unsettled north and possible snow northwest. Warmer Tuesday for the south with colder snowier north. Arizona outlook shows fair south Monday and Tuesday with snow and colder conditions in the north portion.
Conditions for the past 24 hours end at 6 p m showed a cloudy day. The report lists a high of 48 and a low of 73 with a 20 degree range. Humidity at 6 p m was 48 percent and no precipitation is reported. Wind from the Southwest at 6 mph.
New York reports from Associated Press indicate markets remain satisfactory with high traffic, rail car loadings up year over year, steel output near 80 percent of wartime capacity, and prices holding. Cotton declines then rebounds around 25 cents, grains firm amid foreign doubt, and banks show ample credit.

He asserts France never claimed left bank of the Rhine and that the Tiger intends no territorial seizure. He plans a Chicago address to farmers before a convention. He will depart for New York in the afternoon.
Manila December 9 The resignation of Governor General Leonard Wood as provost of the University of Pennsylvania means he will stay in the Philippines indefinitely or until his program is carried out He extended absence to January but cannot leave before the legislature closes in February and may stay longer while on inspection trips in the southern islands.
The 98 foot Spectacks motor cruiser arrives in Miami Vila for a rest after fifteen months circling the globe with Albert Y. Gowan of Chicago and Cleveland and his bride on their honeymoon. The craft was long reported lost at sea but is now safe in the placid harbor with its party aboard.
San Diego December 10 searchers failed to locate Colonel Francia Marehall and Lieutenant Charles L. Webber who disappeared Thursday during a flight from San Diego toward Tucson Arizona. Observers report a plane believed to be carrying Webber and Marehall passed Tacna Arizona and Sialien on the Southern Pacific railroad. search efforts extended over Mohawk and Crawler mountains as far south and east as Nogales with ten army aircraft from Rockwell Field and Fort Bliss aiding the hunt.
Two of the five planes from Kelly Field bound for Fort Huachuca to aid the search of Colonel Marshall and Lt. Webber crashed in the Arizona desert near Medina Lake and Sanderson. All three other planes reached Fort Bliss safely. Pilots were reportedly uninjured.
London December 10 Imports of tobacco into England have risen sharply in recent years prompting two large new warehouses in London to hold the growing stock of the weed kept in bend.
Washington reports from the United States coal commission state the bituminous mining industry is overdeveloped and investors should halt new mines. The commission cites too many mines and miners, wasteful overcapacity, and a mismatch between potential output and national consumption.
Washington December 10 Jackson H M Ralston counsel for Representative Keller Republican Minnesota who has brought impeachment charges against Attorney General Daugherty wrote Chairman Volstead of the house judiciary committee that he may find it necessary to place before the committee additional charges of high crimes and misdemeanors These charges might be of equal or greater importance than those in the 14 counts recently filed Leaving on Which Will begin before the judiciary committee Tuesday Keller publicizes letters including one from Chairman Volstead to Ralston saying the committee desires to investigate all charges and to know what witnesses will be used in considering the first specification regarding prosecution of antitrust suits Volstead says necessary to hear witnesses to substantiate charges before incurring expense
About 8 000 refugees from Vladivostok near Gensan were relieved by Japanese government efforts. All refugees were fed clothed and housed, ending ongoing relief concerns as of December 10.
The Kiaochow territory in Shantung was restored to China at noon with the Chinese flag raised over the former German accused administration building. Japanese police headquaters were taken over by Chinese officials as 2,790 police and 10,000 border troops had been present. Wang Cheng-Ting, China’s foreign minister, expressed confidence of peace despite concerns over arms promised by Japan.
London December 10 The Duke of Abercorn has been appointed governor of Northern Ireland by King George This follows expectations as the duke was chosen for the post weeks ago He joined the Ulster Parliament senate in 1921 and served as imperial parliament member for Londonderry from 1900 to 1913 He was Lord Lieutenant of Tyrone in 1917
Nashville police report an 18 year old high school student Stewart Lynch died after a failed hold up of J J Wyans a 63 year old grocery store manager. Evans fired the fatal brain shot and is being sought. A second robber J D Willoughby 28 surrendered while a third accomplice remains at large.
William Thomas Perkins aged 66, longtime secretary of the New York State Y M C A Building and Finance committee, died in Los Angeles today after a long illness. The NY YMCA community mourns the financier and organizer of state programs.
Trustin Dec 19 reports renewed reprisals by opponents of the Free State against officials. Bombs and gasoline hit J J Walsh postmaster general residence on Frederick Street, and the Inish Produce shop owned by Mrs Wyse Power. John Mellarry and family attacked, Walsh aide O Hegarty’s home raided. Children treated at hospital.

From 1992 onward pumping stations watered over 50 000 acres while citrus fruits and cotton expansion forecast strong yields and multiple crops annually. A 1922 cotton crop exceeded 60 606 bales with projected 125 906 to 150 060 bales.
