Police dispersed a crowd of strike sympathizers at the Chicago stock yards after bricks and stones were thrown at an officer who arrested a man trying to cut a trolley cord. A man was shot in the leg and a policeman hospitalized after being struck on the head by a brick.
Chicago faced clashes as strike supporters and police fought near stock yards causing shootings and injuries including union members and a woman. Saloon closings were ordered and authorities patrolled as talks among union leaders and packers continued with reports of near normal operations at plants.

San Francisco report says the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railway reduced freight rates on steel and about 100 other steel and iron products westbound for export by 21 cents per hundred pounds. The cuts take effect as soon as possible.
The nine years' litigation over the Barney Thioeeco oil allotment in the Cushing field is settled. The Black Panther Oil Company acquires the allotment, and Martha Jackson a Creek Indian gains immediate possession for $308,060.
