A bill introduced in the House and Senate would expand the federal farm loan system into a farm credit department providing at least six hundred million dollars in short and long term loans. The plan would create a revolving government funded pool of sixty million nine hundred thousand dollars across 12 banks and allow rediscounting of farm paper with six months to three years maturities.
In Chicago on December 6 representatives of the bituminous coal industry adjourned without a base for new wage talks. A proposed district agreement was rejected by miners, and a plan to return to the old cenval competitive field system was rejected by operators. A joint meeting is set for January 3 in Chicago to pursue a basis for negotiation.

General John J. Pershing addressed 1,400 at a Chicago luncheon and later spoke to wounded soldiers urging patriotism and a strong army. General Dawes condemned Governor Small for commuting Lloyd and 16 others, amid impeachment cries. Pershing defended war bonds and attacked pacifist and communist elements, calling for firm action.

Danville HK December 6 John Theodore Carrington was acquitted of murdering his sister-in-law Lydia Carrington 19 years ago. He sent a telegram to his Colorado children saying they are praying for him. Carrington, a former fugitive since 1903, returned to clear his name and visit his elderly mother Mary Carrington. He plans to visit relatives before returning to Colorado.
Kiwanis Club elected J N Boyle as the new second vice president for the coming year during yesterday's noon meeting in the banquet room. Pearce Redey will succeed Boyle as second vice president, while W A Keleher becomes first vice president and C H Stearns district trustee. Four directors named are George Taylor L C Mersfelder Errett Van Cleave and Roy Campbell.
