S A Santa Fe official led a condensed briefing at the Alvarado hotel detailing rail traffic gains for 1923 and 1928, praising the 1920 act while countering critics. He cited record carloads 49,545,000 through Oct 1, 1923, improved efficiency and new equipment, and noted near universal compliance with labor-board orders.
A posse led by Sandoval County Sheriff Montoya and state penitentiary officers with dogs searched the La Bajada area for Jore Chavez, an escapee after an alleged attempted assault. Elias Vigil surrendered at the penitentiary. Chavez may have headed toward El Paso. Nathan Salmon, a Santa Fe dry goods merchant, was injured in a crash near the camp. The skeleton of four year old Himmy Glass was found in a swamp near Greeler Pike County Pennsylvania ending an eight year search. Identification was possible from evidence. He is reported as the son of Mr and Mrs Charles Giase of Jersey City New Jersey.
Mex Boyd pleaded guilty to speeding before Police Judge George Reidy and was fined 25 dollars. His car collided Monday morning with John Strong at Haveldine avenue and South Vue street. Strong suffered facial and body bruises and a broken shoulder. Boyd escaped serious injuries and was taken to St. Joseph's sanatorium.
The district court granted writs of habeas corpus releasing six Klansmen Frank L. Landes C. C. French C. lL. Wheat J. F. Cope H. A. Cunningham and A. E. Bebemeyer from $2,900 bonds on mask wearing charges. John H. Cooper had already been discharged on November 22.

Topeka Kansas December The state board of agriculture reports Kansas winter wheat acreage at 9 761 000 acres, down 1 826 410 acres or 15 76 percent from last year. This is the smallest sown since the first war year 1917.
