Also reported, the steamer Charmer collided with the Bermuda off Vancouver, passengers removed as the Charmer sank and was beached.

Woman Seizes Passenger From Overboard On California
New York December 3 a Dundee Scotland passenger David Dearne aboard the steamer California arriving from Glasgow narrowly avoided being washed overboard by a giant wave. Mrs William Angus of Haywards California grabbed him as water receded and three sailors rescued them. Dearne suffered a dislocated shoulder and bruises. Beardstown New Jersey December 2 Judge Francis Gilder aged 77, brother of Richard Watson Gilder and noted musician, died here today.
