Denver and New Mexico show a settled north area and partly cloudy south area with cooler conditions on Thursday. Arizona forecasts fair conditions in the west and cloudy to partly cloudy in the east on Wednesday and cooler temperatures overall.

U S Marshal Secundinog Romero received a telegram announcing the arrest at Taos Junction of R V Logan alias H M Winters, the federal prisoner who jumped from a second story window in Santa Fe Monday. Logan, 25, eluded a dozen deputies after leaping from a moving train near Taos Junction. He had been awaiting sentencing for a Dyer Auto Theft Act violation.
The United States railroad labor board awarded 1 to 3 cent per hour wage increases to telegraph department employees excluding agents at non-telegraph stations across the Atchison Topeka Santa Fe Cincinnati Indianapolis Western and Denver Rio Grande systems. Vacations with pay await ruling. Southern Pacific denied regrouping of classes. overtime pay mandated for Cincinnati Indianapolis Western non-telegraph and non phone agency staff. Changes take effect November 16 1924 for wages and December 1 1924 for rules.

Indictments against Walter B Dickey owner editor of the Kansas City Journal Post and Ralph Ellis general managing editor for illegal publication of income tax returns were quashed by Judge Albert L Reeves in federal court. Reeves ruled the act prohibiting tax lists publication violated the First Amendment and that the questioned list may be separate from a return. He noted that revenue law allows public inspection of taxpayers and paid amounts complicating a strict reading against press disclosure.
Arizona cattleman George MetCormick plans to begin a deer drive Monday from Kathab reserve south across the Grand Canyon to feeding grounds. The contract pays $2.50 per deer driven by December 31, with $1,000 already received from film interests for motion pictures.
Government counsel shifted testimony in the conspiracy trial of Colonel Charles St Forbes and John W Thompson from veterans hospital contracts to the Gutheil case. Mortimer testified Thompson offered 160000 for a settlement of his 660645 claim to be shared by Mortimer Forbes and Cramer.
A House bill would cut 167 thousand dollars by abolishing the surveyor general office and consolidating with field surveyors. It also plans to close 99 land offices next July including Del Norte Durango Lamar Leadville Sterling Clayton Fort Sumner Cheyenne and New Castle. Two men described as about 30 year old Mexicans robbed the Cardenas hotel cashier in Trinidad last evening about 12:20 pm demanding cash. They fled with the coins after brandishing two automatics and likely took a freight train south on the Santa Fe from Trinidad. Railway police searched but could not locate them.

Washington reported that the treasury will offer 200 million dollars in 20 to 30 year 4 percent bonds on December 16 to finance maturing debt and carry the government through the next three months. The issue may be enlarged if tendered securities warrant.

The Democratic National Committee filed a report with the House clerk showing total campaign contributions of 845520 from July 1 to November 20, plus a 120000 loan from New York Trust Company. Contributions exceeded 100 each totaling 685902, with major gifts from John Dodigan, Thomas L. Chadbourne, Jesse H. Jones, B. M. Baruch, Henry Morganthau, and James W. Gerard among others.
