London December 1 The Daily Telegraph reports heavy losses in the first division as Japanese stormers attack Port Arthur with Ninth and Eleventh divisions advancing. Tokyo cites 15 000 Japanese casualties and plans to press attacks to December 20 to capture Port Arthur. Mukden notes a small skirmish on November 30 and warmth in weather.
Reported in Tangier harbor several warships lay at anchor in the bay. The vessels are described as part of the Russian second Pacific squadron, drawing attention from observers in the area.
