London reports America is supplanting Britain in coal markets across South America and Europe due to shipping restrictions. Virginia shipments reach European ports while Baltic and Mediterranean ports take American coal at urgent-need rates. Prescott Arizona November 39 Sheriff Warren G. Davis of Yavapai county and Deputy Grant Carter detained in Grand Junction after a restaurant incident. The proprietor allegedly offered whiskey, the sheriff joined, and they prepared to follow the train to Prescott, taking action on the spot.

Jimmy Smith of Milwaukee topped the all-events at the Midwest bowling tournament with 1460 after 607 in team, 634 in doubles, 615 in singles and a 279 high single. Phil Wolf of Chicago was second with 1841 and Larry Cozzoto of Toledo third with 1830.
