Tokyo August 27 The Associated Press reports Japan fears a world Far Eastern arms conference could decide issues vital to its future and sees Asia as its preserved sphere. Officials note Britain and the Anglo Japanese alliance complicates relations while Japan seeks to define topics for deliberation and defend naval strength as essential amid rising population and needs.
Samuel Gompers told labor readers at Atlantic City that the spirit of American workers remains unbroken despite the depression era mood. He urged resistance to wage cuts and unity among wage earners while noting employers’ intensified pressure. The executive council sent a cable to Premier Lloyd George urging continued Irish truce until after the disarmament conference to prevent world peace threats.

In Lincoln Nebraska the home of Charles Zink in an exclusive residential district was partly wrecked early today by a blast. Chief of Police Johnstone says the explosion came from a bomb placed near the foundation of the house.
Washington reports that fiscal year 1921 tax receipts dropped by over 812 million dollars from 1920 as collection costs rose from 65 to 68 cents per dollar. Total receipts reached 4.595 billion, with income and profits taxes at 3.226 billion and miscellaneous taxes at 1.369 billion. Prohibition act revenue added 2.152 million. fines and forfeitures may total about 2.501 million. State totals show California and Texas leading other states in revenue gains.
The Associated Press reports that bodies of American naval men missing after the H-6 disaster will be sent home on the British cruiser Dauntless. They will be escorted by American air force officers during salvage operations on the dirigible ZR-2.
