Reports received by Trevino state the town of Oateno was surrounded by Villa bandits and captured after a six hour battle. A garrison of 200 men evacuated the town.
Three hundred Villista bandits captured Sateve in Chihuahua fifty miles south of here. Outlaws led by Uribe Arrange and Martin Lopez surrounded the town and forced the 200 strong garrison under Captain de la Fuente to evacuate after six hours of fighting. Villa not present. Casualties not officially released.
Charles Hughes arrived in Estes Park Colorado and will rest there before resuming campaign duties. He appeared tired and instructed staff not to bother him unless urgent while Mrs Hughes joined him after a Lyons Colorado welcome from boy scouts. The couple planned mountain hikes during the brief vacation.
Mexico City August 27 Mexican and American commissioners set to meet in New York over disputes with the United States. Luis Cabrera leads the Mexican team with James Linn Rodgers the American envoy. They sail from Vera Cruz to Key West aboard the Dixie while others head to Saltillo. High officials confer before departure.

Mrs G E Parks a Columbus telephone operator was hailed for heroism during the Villa raid. While bullets tore the office and her two year old child was beside her she stayed at her post until rescue by Thirteenth Cavalry. She notified authorities and the raid’s reach was reported to El Paso and Deming. The New Mexico chapter of the D A R presented a silver dining service and a gold watch.
The Cologne Gazette reports via Diverseas News Agency that the German merchant submarine is shown on its way to the United States carrying a cargo of dyes.

New York Aug 27 A study by the mayors committee on national defense aims to measure how mobilizing the national guard to the Mexican border affects business. It asks employers for the number of workers in military service, salary payment status, and job security while defense policies are reviewed.
United States senatorial run off results from Texas show incumbent Charlies A. Culberson leading former Governor C. Eb Colquitt by about 60 000 votes with projections placing the final margin near 75 000 Culberson carried all border counties except Presidio where Colquitt drew 43 to 10 Culberson Two thirds of Texas voters participated in the primary.
Entente aeroplanes bombarded Ghent Friday morning according to a Belgian paper. first bomb at 8 PM local time and bombardment lasted about 35 minutes with a terrific explosion shattering windows. Reports say many victims. An ammunition depot at Meireheghe was blown up and a Zeppelin seriously damaged.
