San Francisco August 24 Captain Isy Baldwin designs an aeroplane to depart Fort Hater at 6 tomorrow morning aiming to fly across the Golden Gate. He plans to mark the destination with a small American flag as Major 8 Cheene, chief signal officer of California, observes for a report to Washington.
Sacramento Aug 16 The Chico Normal School board of trustees removed Van Liew as president after immoral conduct charges filed by Governor Gillett. He will receive the full year's salary. The charges were previously tried and he was exonerated, but a trustee supporter’s death followed, and a new vote aligned with the governor’s view.
