Twenty eight persons were injured in a rear end collision between two St Louis & San Francisco passenger trains in Newburg Missouri on August 23. None were seriously hurt. The wreck happened when train No 6 eastbound from Fort Worth collided with train No as eastbound from Wichita and Oklahoma. Most injuries occurred among Pullman passengers.

They will assist them to reach home or friends and will await instructions from the state secretary.
A telegram to President Wilson from Sonora state troop leaders requests lifting the arms embargo to aid the constitutionalists. Reported that Huerta's government gained permission to import nearly 1,000,000 rounds of ammunition, with the chiefs arguing that without ammunition, constitutional forces cannot protect American lives and property.
United States military authorities seized a shipment of constitutionalist paper money at Rio Grande, Texas, intended for Constitutionalists in Mexico. The contraband currency, printed in the United States, is held pending Washington’s instructions. The seizure covers the first installment of five million dollars to be shipped to the border.
Edward K. McCall, chairman of the Public Service Commission, was designated mayoralty candidate by the Tammany city committee. The 630 delegates unanimously backed McCall as leaders indicated Mayor Gaynor might lead an independent ticket. Herman A. Metz named for comptroller and Joseph A. Goulden for president of the board of aldermen.
Dolly La Belle of Green Bay Wisconsin was severely injured near Haveloek while attempting balloon ascent and parachute jump. The rope failed and she tangled in the parachute lines, dragging across fields and underbrush as the gas bag collapsed. She remains in critical condition with hopeful prospects by physicians.
In Chicago on August 22, Disturber 11 owned and piloted by Commodore James H. Pugh of Chicago won the American motor boat championship. Disturber 11 completed fifteen laps totaling thirty miles in 42 47. Baby Reliance of Canton finished second in 43 02 263, about 1 35 behind the winner.
