Thaw remains in his cell amid legal wrangling over a writ of habeas corpus while a Quebec lawyer represents Thompson.
Washington officials remained reticent about reports of a wholesale arms shipment from El Paso Texas to the Mexican federals in Juarez. The federals under Francisco Cordova reportedly shot Hayes after a cordial exchange with rebel officers.
