The Governor appeals to parents to maintain educational progress in New Mexico. He urges not to repeat past mistakes seen in England and France and stresses continuing support for schools and learning.
Governor W E Lindsey of New Mexico issues a proclamation urging parents to keep children and youth in school and college for another scholastic year to supply technically trained workers for the war effort. He cites allied shortages, the value of technical colleges, and the need to sustain armies through education.
British and French forces forging a nine mile front east and northeast of Ypres captured Langemarck and the Diegrachten bridgehead while driving the German line near the Yser canal.
