Atwood of Boston completes a remarkable timed performance as Lou Flight shatters all American records. The record run signals a continued voyage toward the Atlantic Seaboard, with Atwood pivotal in the feat and set to push forward in upcoming legs.
Chicago Aug 14 A series of accidents and dramatic near misses at the international aviation meet kept 20 000 spectators on edge. Harry Atwood of Boston flies from St Louis to Chicago in ten hours thirteen minutes including stops. Reports detail crashes into Lake Michigan and near the yacht club, with pilots rescued and planes damaged or destroyed.
The report notes Hammonds engine failure and a drive to a nearby location. Oscar A. Brinkley and Walter Beatty set the altitude record for the day and stayed largely out of sight through the afternoon. Brinkley reappeared high in the clouds as darkness neared the closing of the meet.

In Carthage New Mexico on Saturday between noon and 1 30 pm robbers entered the Carthage Mercantile Co canteen and stole about 40 dollars from the cash drawer. They disturbed no liquor and left no clue. A man later detained with money on him was released due to lack of evidence.

E B Calvin vice president of Southern Pacific states railroads will not concede in works or shop rules. Ventruro Rodriguez of Belen was instantly killed when a falling pole during merry go round construction crushed him. The accident followed a hoist miscommunication as weights tangled.
