Weather forecast notes showers and thunderstorms across New Mexico Sunday and Monday with unsettled paths and no major temperature change. Arizona should see showers Sunday and Monday with cooling on Sunday, fair to the west and rain east portions. Local report shows 24 hour conditions ending 6 p.m. with a high around 87 and humidity near 60 percent.
Lincoln Neb Aug Associated Press Lt Gov Pelham A Barrows acting chief executive during Governor McKelvie absence works on a 54 daily strike guard for the Chicago Burlington and Quincy railroad. He says he needed work after hard times and notes Nebraska law provides non-remunerative lieutenant governorship though he would be paid as governor when absent. Governor McKelvie is in Denver at the Colorado Republican convention.
W H Brocaw temporary manager at the Chambon hotel in Socorro N M was beaten about the head with a blunt object by TJ Baca who demanded a room for two women. Baca waived exam and is jailed awaiting grand jury action. Brocaw is linked to the Valverde development company and has been in Socorro about a year.
Four men died and about twenty were injured when a car was struck by Minneapolis St Paul and Sault Ste Marie train number 107 at a grade crossing in Annandale Minnesota late today.
A fifty-car caravan from San Bernardino and Riverside will transport stranded passengers from Needles if a transport agreement is not reached between officials and Santa Fe by tomorrow. Sheriff and chamber of commerce arranged the trip as auto relief amid heat while negotiations stall.
A Los Angeles appeal reports marooned women children and elderly near Selian Ariz await rescue as heat lack of milk and limited medical care threaten health. The plea calls for a Red Cross relief train to evacuate the group to safety along with transport for the elderly and feeble.

A Las Vegas New Mexico report states the home of Antonio Gonzales east of the Santa Fe Railway tracks burned to the ground this morning. The cause of the fire is unknown.
J F F McGrath vice president of the railway employes department of the American Federation of Labor warns that creeping paralysis will halt train service within sixty days. He cites reports from Texas and Pacific Missouri Pacific Great Northern and Southern Pacific that inspections have not occurred since June risking serious accidents as locomotives are not listed as bad order until failures occur and crews may refuse to operate dangerous equipment.

Henry C. G. Coors longtime Las Vegas resident and former mayor died at his home aged 74. He arrived in Las Vegas before the Santa Fe railway in 1874, built the Central hotel site, partnered in lumber with James Lockhart, and served as city councilman. Survived by wife and six children including Henry G. Coors Jr. of Albuquerque. Funeral set for tomorrow.
