The united socialists in the Reichstag adopted a no confidence resolution and drafted reforms to pursue a coalition government. Christian will stay until a new regime is established and Edward T. Clark assists. The White House released Coolidge’s letter of acceptance and Christian’s resignation is dated August 8.
District Judge Holloman ruled for J. H. McMath of Wagon Mound in a suit to stop a state warden from restricting his sale of trout and bass from a private 60 acre lake. The 1919 law banning sale of game fish from private parks was deemed not to apply to landlocked waters with no outlet. McMath plans to ship fish to Las Vegas, Santa Fe, Albuquerque and beyond to El Paso.
The Cuba Extension railroad filed incorporation papers in Santa Fe on Aug 11 with authorized capital of 650 900 and 4 409 paid in. Incorporators include Sidney M Weil Ivan Grunsfeld Guy L Rogers J F Cox and Lloyd Sturges of Albuquerque. The line will extend the Santa Fe Northwestern from San Ysidro to Cuba New Mexico.
Columbus Ga August 11 announcement by Major J Paul Jones head of the athletic committee of the local American Legion post promoters says the world light heavyweight championship bout scheduled for Labor Day between Mike McTigue the champion of Ireland and Young Stribling of Macon is cancelled.
One hundred thousand fish died at the Szegedin breeding ponds as heat dried the water leaving the ponds in slime. The population was ordered buried to prevent air poisoning over miles around.
Joe Baldwin a Socorro banker and cattle man resigns as chief field inspector for the New Mexico Loan Agency of the War Finance Corporation The dissolution of the office was announced at a recent meeting Baldwin will continue some inspection work as required He serves on the agency board of directors and has performed extensive field work in that role
In Cleveland on August 11, the North Randall meet features 26 trotting events with over $60,000 in stakes, the largest five day purse ever for a trotting meet. Four races per day, two divisions where warranted, includes a $14,000 free for all trot and a two division Rainy Day sweepstakes. The championship stallion stake for three year olds carries $19,000 on Wednesday.
Scientists from across the United States and abroad will gather for the seventy seventh meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science at the University of Southern California starting September 17. The eclipse on September 10 is expected to be the main topic. Officers include Charles D. Wolcott and Burton E. Livingston. The Pacific division will host the convention and run the program.
Atlanta August 11 Governor Walker announced the full power of the executive department to stop mob outrages including Macon floggings and Milledgeville reformatory invasion. Rewards were set at 500 dollars for the leader of the Macon flogging party and 100 dollars for each member plus similar rewards for the reformatory mob leaders and members.
Virell Barnes pitcher for the New York Nationals was sent home today for allegedly failing to strictly follow training rules. The move was announced in Louis on August 11.
Grover Cleveland Bergdoll, famed American draft evader, shot and killed a man and wounded another during a kidnapping attempt at his hotel in Pberhach Baden. German authorities say two Americans and a Russian prince involved were seized, while a crowd threatened to lynch them.
Heavy rains caused flash floods in the area between Castle Rock and Sedalia Colorado washing out a section of the north bound Santa Fe Denver and Rio Grande Western double track south of Sedilia. Rail traffic is detoured via the south bound tracks as railroad officials report.

He urges voters to give Coolidge a chance to show results on agriculture coal transportation and foreign policy amid turbulent times and warns parties must offer a clear program or risk defeat.
Chicago August 11 Indications that extensive building activity continues are seen in July permits across 239 cities. Total value $253,816,602, up 14.4 percent from July 1922 and down 4.4 from June 1923. Gains by region include 23.4 percent in the East, 1.15 in the Central, 46.4 in the Pacific. South down 7. Principal cities show New York led with $51.6 million, Chicago $16.5 million, Los Angeles $15.1 million. Other cities reported varying gains.
Sitka Alaska paid last tribute to the late President Harding. The population including natives marched to the native Presbyterian church he attended during his Alaska stop. His pew was draped in black with a brass plate marking the presidential visit. It was there he attended worship for the last time.
Westbound California Limited passengers heard Holman Day address the car at a Kansas stop honoring Warren G Harding. Day praised the dead president, offered faith in Calvin Coolidge, and announced his move to First National Pictures in Hollywood as a resident editor.
Forest Hills, Aug. 11. American women defeated English players to claim the international cup by 3-0. Helen Wills beat Kathleen McKane 6-2 7-5, Molla Mallory beat R C Clayton 6-1 6-8 8-6, Goss and Wightman won the doubles 10-8 5-7 6-4 over McKane Covell. England must win all remaining four matches Monday to save the cup.
Berlin reports eleven killed and many wounded in a clash between striking workmen and peasants at Aix La Chapelle. Peasants formed self protection squads after raids on nearby farms, repulsing invaders attempting to seize crops and food stores.
President Coolidge, back in Washington from Marion, told cabinet officers he sees no need for an extra congressional session and favors continued unity in the administration. He discussed coal and agricultural issues with seven department heads and said regular cabinet meetings will proceed weekly.
In Kentucky near Greenup a mother saved her crippled child from a swollen creek while three of her other children were swept to their deaths. Mr and Mrs Wales Greathouse and four children and Mrs Albert Greathouse were in a stalled car when floodwaters rose. The mother clung to the crippled child as the car floated downstream and two other women saved their own child before both women were swept 56 feet. One body recovered to date.
