Denver reports 65 year old inventor J L Mitchell who devised automotive illuminating gas may die from injuries after a carbide gas tank exploded at his machine shop. He had just mended a leak and was testing with a blow torch when gas ignited causing a huge blast that wrecked two autos and damaged the building. Mitchell crawled outside, bathed himself in oil as instructed, then collapsed and was taken to a hospital.

Steamboat Springs Colorado, age forty five, prominent local resident and republican figure, shot himself yesterday afternoon with a revolver near his home. His mother, who found the body, is unconscious from the shock and not expected to recover. Miller had been ill for some time and left a note to Dr H Dodge saying he was tired of it all and planned to kill himself.
