A meeting of telegraph operators declares for a general strike after long oppression. Secretary Russell calls for men to assert their rights and use all their strength to force recognition and justice from commercial companies. Leased wire systems are involved.
National secretaries announce a potential 24 hour strike across the United States and Canada led by the Commercial Telegraphers Union. Chicago and New York host mass meetings as 4 500 operators join the stoppage with wage demand plans and possible federal arbitration sought by labor leaders.
The Morning Journal reports eight coal trains moved from Trinidad to Pueblo with one freight each way Pueblo to Denver and one south to Testing. Grievance committees of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen plan to meet Assistant GM Martin of the Denver and Rio Grande to demand concessions sparked by the strike. Union Pacific delegates conferred with Grand Master Morrisey. A T Curtis urged restraint on the Colorado and Southern non union hire, advising only required actions.

Hotel proprietor A J Harmon was shot and likely fatally wounded by Gabriel Gonzales, a Santa Fe section foreman, in the Springer hotel bar after Harmon attempted to eject him. Gonzales fled and was at large by midnight. The report notes a 45 Colt pistol and ongoing search.
Estancia New Mexico report says after long trial the territory loses its bid to convict Domingo Valles for killing Colonel J Francisco Chaves at Pines Wells in 1904. Testimony featured alibi defense and witness statements while Judge Mann instructed the jury before verdict.
District court in Torrance New Mexico hears Doming Valles charged with murder. Territory prosecutes alleging malice aforethought and a deliberate premeditated design to kill J Frawisco Chaves.
