A rear end crash occurred at Sulphur Springs Missouri when a driver failed to stop for a block signal. Police investigated the wreck and cited the operator for improper signaling violation. Emergency crews attended the scene and no fatalities were reported.
A rear end collision on Missouri Pacific No. 4 fast passenger train near Sulphur Springs Missouri after a block signal failure killed at least 34 people and injured many more. Engineer Glenn ignored the block signal and jumped clear as the locomotive crashed into local No. 52. Rescue efforts were hampered by flames and chaos as hospitals and town residents aided the injured.
Local showers are expected across New Mexico on Monday with warmer heat in the northeast. Tuesday brings partly cloudy skies for the south and probable showers in the north. Arizona looks partly cloudy on Monday with showers in the east and likely fair conditions on Tuesday. In Pueblo Colorado on August 6 D Brazy and Mr and Mrs Phillip Morrow two black travelers drowned when a five or six foot wall of water swept their car at Peck creek ten miles west of Pueblo Mrs Bray survived as the others were overwhelmed the car overturned and the bodies remained unrecovered as a posse searched along the Arkansas river for them.
Clayton nurseryman A G Rodell of Clayton displays a sample of four year old Yellow Transparent apples. He claims Union county is a good fruit county and says the Clayton apples compare favorably with fruit shipped in by local grocers.

He argues Sawyer’s figures misstate bed availability and cites dangerous conditions in contract and government hospitals. He suggests AMA executives be chosen to avoid government ties.
Orofino Idaho August 6 The forest service fights a large undeclared fire on the ridge between Isabella and Twin Creek feeding the north fork of the Clearwater about 90 miles from Orofino. The area is believed near a thousand acres of green timber in rough terrain. Nine men came from Spokane yesterday and will take three days to reach the blaze. A July heat wave peaked at 109 degrees, followed by a brief shower not enough to stop the flames.

Governor Shoup presented the trophy. all horses underwent identical tests and examinations.

One man seriously injured, others cut or burned, incl. Fred Ketch who dragged his wife to safety. Engineer T W Simpson also assisted victims.
Bismarck reports pitcher EB Duff of Mitchell in the Dakota league has been sold to the Chicago White Sox for 4500. Duff has tallied his thirteenth win with two losses this season, as announced by Mitchell manager Scharnweber. The right hander is to join the White Sox at season's end.

Jacksonville Aug 6 The plane planned by Lt J H Doolittle for a 24 hour transcontinental flight ran into surf at Pablo Beach shortly after takeoff at 9 35 PM The machine swerved downward a quarter mile from the start and plunged into the Atlantic He aimed for San Diego before nightfall tomorrow
Hong Kong reports the typhoon worst in Swatow history. The harbor is jammed with wreckage and several bodies lie among ships washed ashore. The British gun boat Magnolia sailed to Swatow to protect ships stranded in the area from pirates after the midweek storm.
Fifteen thousand dollars in school bonds issued by district No. 25 were sold to Bosworth Chanute and Co of Denver at 99 cents on the dollar. The bonds will fund a consolidated school house serving districts No. 25 and No. 29, with occupancy slated for the start of the next term.
Four members of a family died in the Wapsie river near Cedar Rapids Iowa this afternoon. The fifth person the mother watched in terror as her babies drowned in her arms unable to save them.
