Pueblo Colorado August 8 The Pueblo city council refused to accept the surrender of the Pueblo Gas and Fuel company franchise. The company offered to surrender last Thursday, saying it could not continue gas service at 41.49 per 1 080 cubic feet. The council offered a two year contract at 1.40 per 1 990 cubic feet.

Samuel T. A. Loftis head of the jewelry house died last Friday in his Chicago apartment. The coroner's jury found he died from injuries after a violent fall on the floor near a door. Miss Huth Wood, 25, was alone with Loftis. her fiancé Hey Shayns was released from custody after the inquest.
